Afgelopen week ging een groep van 40 studenten van Inholland, Talland, Vonk en Hellenic Mediterranean University, Vilnius Tech, Centria, University of Naples Frederico II aan de slag met de challenges van verschillende opdrachtgevers uit de regio.
Een van die opdrachtgevers was Herenboeren Duinstreek, een burgerinitiatief gericht op het duurzaam produceren van gezonde voeding.
Studenten, afkomstig uit verschillende landen (Finland, Litouwen, Griekenland, Italië en Nederland) werkten in interdisciplinaire en multilevel (mbo-hbo-wo) teams aan complexe problemen. Vaak systemische vraagstukken waarbij meerdere factoren een rol spelen.
In het geval van Herenboeren: hoe ga je om met onkruid als je geen bestrijdingsmiddelen wilt gebruiken en je leden niet als medewerkers op gezette tijden volgens een dienstrooster kunt inzetten?
Studenten kwamen met een reeks aan oplossingen. Een daarvan was een mooi uitgewerkt prototype: een applicatie (app) voor leden met als concept ‘adopt a row’.
Opdrachtgever Zaza Versteeg reageerde enthousiast: “Wow, dat studenten in zo’n korte tijd, tot zo’n mooi uitgewerkt product kunnen komen had ik niet verwacht. We hebben als Herenboeren al een app, dus daar zouden we e.e.a. dan in moeten ontwikkelen. De suggesties die zij hebben uitgewerkt zijn realistische en waardevolle toevoegingen. Ik ben benieuwd naar hun portfolio straks. Dit zijn echt onverwacht goede ideeën!”

From idea to prototype in 5 days…
Last week, a group of 40 students from Inholland, Talland, Vonk, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Vilnius Tech, Centria, University of Naples Frederico II got to work on the challenges of various clients in the region.
One of those clients was Herenboeren Duinstreek, a citizen initiative focused on sustainable produce of healthy food. Students from various countries (Finland, Lithuania, Greece, Italy and the Netherlands) worked in interdisciplinary and multilevel (mbo-hbo-wo) teams on complex problems. Often systemic challenges in which multiple factors play a role.
In the case of Herenboeren: how do you deal with weeds if you do not want to use pesticides and cannot deploy your members as employees at fixed times according to a task schedule?
Students came up with a range of solutions. One of them was a beautifully developed prototype: an application (app) for members with the concept ‘adopt a row’. Client Zaza Versteeg enthusiastically: "Wow, I didn't expect students to come up with such a beautifully detailed product in such a short time. As Herenboeren, we already have an app, so we should develop some things in that. The suggestions they have worked out are realistic and valuable additions. I'm curious about their portfolio later. These are really unexpectedly good ideas!"
